Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can this black extractor fan be installed directly above a shower?

A: This fan is IP44 rated, making it fully safe for installation in Bathroom Zone 2. This means it handles splashes and heavy steam perfectly. If you are mounting it directly inside a wet shower cubicle (Zone 1), a higher IP rating or a low-voltage axial inline fan situated in the loft space is usually required.

Q: How does the overrun timer function?

A: The integrated timer connects to your bathroom light switch circuit. When you turn off the lights, the fan continues running for a pre-set duration (typically adjustable between 2 to 30 minutes) to ensure all residual steam is completely cleared from the room.

Q: Does this 100mm fan require a permanent live feed?

A: Yes. Because it features an overrun timer, it requires a three-wire connection: a neutral, a switched live (from the light circuit), and a permanent live feed to power the motor after the lights go out.

Q: Is a matte black extractor fan hard to keep clean?

A: Not at all. Unlike white plastic which yellows over time due to UV exposure and dust, the premium matte black finish resists discolouration. A quick wipe down with a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth during your routine cleaning keeps the flat fascia looking brand new.

Q: What size ducting does this fan fit?

A: This is a standard 4-inch fan, meaning it connects seamlessly to any standard 100mm flexible or rigid ventilation ducting.
